Being in possession of either someone else’s personal identification card or a “fake ID” is a criminal misdemeanor under both state law and the City of Ann Arbor’s municipal code. You may be subject to jail time and/or fines. The most typical scenarios in which students are found in possession of a “fake ID” are when attempting to purchase alcohol or enter a bar or club.
