In Michigan, one of the primary statutes for fake IDs is MCL 28.295. It states, in part, "that no one shall intentionally reproduce, alter, counterfeit, forge, or duplicate an official state identification card or use an official state identification card that has been reproduced, altered, counterfeited, forged or duplicated."
Despite the frequency of college students using fake IDs, this crime can have fairly serious repercussions, if convicted. Whether you are using a fake ID to get into a concert, buy alcohol, or otherwise misrepresent your age or identity, you could be asking for major criminal penalties.
