Staff Members

The attorneys at SLS can advise you regarding your legal rights and represent you in court if needed. In addition, the attorneys are available to make presentations regarding legal issues to student groups.

Diane-Audrey Benecke

Diane-Audrey hails from Wheaton, Illinois and is a gradaute of the College of DuPage with a Major in Science.  She moved to Ann Arbor in September, 2019 and began working for the University of Michigan.  She has thirty-five years of experience in Office Administration and Managment, including work in the legal field.  Outside of the office, Diane-Audrey most enjoys planning and taking cruises with her daughter; as of 2021 she has been on eleven trips and counting.

Alexander W. Hermanowski

Alexander W. Hermanowski earned his JD from Western Michigan University – Thomas M. Cooley Law School.  He started working at SLS in 2014.  He is licensed to practice law in Michigan, New York, New Jersey, and the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Mr. Hermanowski's legal expertise at SLS is in criminal defense, consumer protections, and contract review.  He actively practices in all the courts in Washtenaw County.

Gayle Rosen

Gayle Rosen graduated from the University of Michigan in 1985 and obtained her JD from Washington College of Law at American University in 1988.  She is licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan, the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.  

K. Orlando Simón

K. Orlando Simón earned his JD from Wayne State University in 2000.  He is licensed to practice law in Michigan and the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Mr. Simón’s area of legal expertise at SLS is criminal defense, consumer, and copyright as it pertains to DMCA allegations.  He is an avid cyclist, cook, reader, and music lover.  He is also a member of the State Bar of Michigan and a member of the Washtenaw County Bar Association, where he served as President and continues to work on the Bias Awareness Committee.
