According to the City of Ann Arbor Code, if any noise can be heard beyond your property line or the physical space of your property, you are in violation of the noise ordinance.
The city has both general and specific prohibitions for noise violations. General prohibitions can be issued for unreasonably loud disturbances, while some examples of specific prohibitions include amplified stereo equipment and loud music. Either one can result in a civil infraction or criminal charge plus fines. For a complete review of noise-related prohibitions, visit the city’s Code of Ordinances.
